It was 1963 when Skyway Shopping Center first opened its doors - and with it, a small barbershop that would become a beloved community landmark. Back then, the shopping center was the talk of the town. Its modern design and convenient location made it the place to be. The barber chairs were brand new, the mirrors sparkled, and haircuts were just a couple of dollars.

“Those were simpler times,” our veteran barbers often say. “Men would come in for their weekly trim, catch up on local news, and walk out looking sharp.”
 

The shopping center may have been smaller then, but the dreams were big. No one could have predicted that this modest barbershop would stand the test of time, becoming one of the most trusted names in local grooming.

Through the bell-bottom era of the '70s and the bold styles of the '80s, Joe’s became more than just a place for haircuts - it became the heart of local connection. Fathers brought their sons in for their first haircut, a tradition that proudly continues to this day.

Our barber chairs have witnessed countless “first haircut” moments - young boys sitting nervously, leaving with proud smiles and newfound confidence. Many of those boys are now grown men who return with children of their own to share the same experience.

The 1990s brought big changes to Skyway Shopping Center. While other businesses came and went, Joe’s Barbershop stood firm - a lighthouse in a sea of change. As chain stores replaced family-owned shops, we stayed focused on what matters most:

Our Austin Air HEPA purifier keeps the air fresh, while the familiar sound of clippers and conversation fills the room. With six cutting stations and over 40 years of combined experience, our team serves around 50 clients daily - each one treated like family.
